Artist's Comments

In this image i wanted to study the mundanity of brushing teeth, and relate it to the viewer in the most harshest sense.

Working in a hyper realistic style enables me to distance myself from the person in the image, but heightens the connection to the original photographic source.

Stunning work - wow. I actually gagged (er, because of a personal issue - someone I worked with used to spit (she had a variety of challenges, this wasn't personal) so now I get twitchy about such things as drool and toothpaste sloshing over the mouth as a result. So that is actually a comiplment - so little in art today actually makes me react! That your work does is incredible. Your attention to detail and choice of portraying it in a hyper real style was impeccable! Well done!!!

This is beautiful! I think you've conveyed your point very well, especially with your color choices. The undertones of bright blue and green contrasted with the punches of red really make this piece feel almost clinical - as though I'm focusing in on this person's face with hospital lights beaming down on us, illuminating each and every pore and scratch of hair visible on the skin.

I'm so curious to see your step-by-step process with pieces like these. The detail is just so dead-on, even with the unique sense of style. Is this oil or acrylic? And how big is your canvas, if you don't mind me asking.
